If you guessed David Hedison you're correct. According to Hedison, the picture was taken when he was 5 years old.

Although living in Providence, Rhode Island, his father's store was in Medford,Massachusetts, and was called Al's Spa.

(David didn't elaborate on it in my questionaire,and I'd always read his father had a jewelry enameling business, and it was listed in an old Providence Phone book as such, so it was a unusal name for his store, at least to me.)

David played ice hockey for fun as a child, though never on a team. And forget about trying to find any yearbook photos, because he said his high school didn't have them.

As for the sailor picture he sent to John Ford that he'd spoken about in interviews years ago 'to get a start in show business',it's long gone.

He leads an active life,travels a great deal, and attributes his health to excercise and a healthy life style including yogurt and garlic and genetics.

He also revealed that when his daughters were young, they had 2 dogs and 3 cats.

( mmmm, I can just imagine them all in front of the fireplace, with snoozing dogs and purring cats and 'daddy' reading them stories...but that's MY IMAGINING, not his)

He's not really interested in talking about 'behind the scenes'from ANY production, but 'talks' are in progress about him possibly attending another 'autograph/entertainment' convention.( sure hope its the one we all want him to attend, even if a lot of us can't make it!)
